This is the 78th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

Zach Glifianakis was born in 1969 in North Carolina.

Zach began a film career in 1996, he played a stoner on the series Boston Common. After that his career slowly began to gather steam as he co-starred in the film Out Cold in 2001 and had small roles in Corky Romano, Bubble Boy and Into the Wild. He also played himself in the documentary Super High Me in which he tries to discover the effect of being high (on marijuana) for 30 days.

His stand up comedy routines earned him his own episode of Comedy Central Presents in 2001. The next year he became host of the television show Late World with Zach and in 2003 he co-starred in Tru Calling as Davis. Zach though would often speak about how much he hated Tru Calling and thought it was the worst TV show he had ever seen.

From then on Zach took on a number of appearances, comedy tours and co-starring roles on television becoming a very common face on Comedy Central and even performing in music videos for Kanye West and Fiona Apple.

In 2009, Zach skyrocketed to the mainstream with a co-starring role in the blockbuster hit the Hangover. Zach plays Alan, the one that was unwillingly invited to the bachelor party and the one that is the cause of all of the crazy events that occur.
