Inglourious Basterds is the newest release from Quentin Tarantino and the famed director has claimed this to be his best work yet. Set in Nazi occupied France this movie features the classic revenge story gone awry. It was released in August of 2009 to top the weekend box office. The movie starts Brad Pitt, Christopher Waltz and Melanie Laurent.
The movie tells two revenge plots to take down the Nazi leadership. One is from that of a young Jewish woman and the other by a team of Allied Jewish scalp-hunters. Even though the movie is marketed as a war film, Tarentino says that it is a spaghetti western with World War II iconography.
Critics loved the film when it was released and many believed it matched Tarantino's belief that it was his best yet. This is good news for Tarantino as he spent more than a decade writing the script. It continues to make waves in theaters and it's lead actor Christopher Waltz won an award for Best Leading Actor when the movie showed at the Cannes Film Festival.
