Adam Richman was born in 1974, and he grew up in New York City. Growing up in a city with such a diverse food culture Adam grew a strong love of food. He was willing to try just about anything and still his passion for food continued to grow.
He went to Emery University in Atlanta, Georgia for an International Studies degree and it was there that he began a food journal in order to track all the different foods that he sampled. Once he graduated, he decided to follow his love of food and took nearly every job there is in the restaurant business. He never trained professionally but he gained plenty of on the job experience.
He then went on to Yale University where he received a Master's degree in Drama. After graduation he began traveling country playing in small regional theaters. All the while he continued to write down his food experiences in his journal.
His television credits include Guiding Light, All My Children, Joan of Arcadia and Law and Order.
In 2008, he was given the role of man in the reality TV show Man v. Food. In this show Adam is given the task of taking on incredible eating challenges all over the country and finding out if Man is better than food.
