This is the 51st post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

Despite his medieval appearance, British actor Ben Barnes was actually born in 1981. He got his real start in acting when he was 15. As a member of the National Youth Music Theater he was given a role in the Ballad of Salomon Pavey. He took a few television acting jobs as well, including Liquid News, before starring in The History Boys onstage.

His first big appearance in a movie was a supporting role in the movie Stardust as the younger version of Dunstan. But it was his work in theater that led him to his first starring role in a feature film. The producers of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian knew him from the theater and after a very brief audition picked him for the role of Prince Caspian. This was of course after he slightly exaggerated his ability to ride a horse.

Outside of the Chronicles of Narnia franchise, Ben recently starred in Easy Virtue with Jessica Biel. Future releases include Dorian Gray in which he plays Dorian Gray, possibly creating a trend of Ben playing title characters. In 2010, the movie Valedictorian will be released in which Ben also has a starring role.

Though this role will unlikely garner as much attention as his other movie set to release in 2010: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
