Evolution was a movie released in 2001 by DreamWorks pictures. The movie starred David Duchovny, Orlando Jones, and Julianne Moore.
The movie tells the story of aliens who came to Earth by a meteor. After which they begin evolving at a truly alarming rate. Two scientists (Duchovny and Jones) work to explain the aliens after they make the discovery of their existence. The problem reaches massive proportions and eventually it is up to these to scientists to fight the government and the aliens in order to save the planet. The movie features offbeat comedy and is truly reminiscent of the great "B movies" of the past.
Some funny trivia about the movie was that as it was being filmed in Page, Arizona in December, but not set in December, DreamWorks requested the residents of the town to hold off decorating for Christmas. When filming finished, DreamWorks paid workers overtime to make sure that the town would be decorated for Christmas Day. Dan Akroyd also made waves in the town by checking IDs at local bars, being an unofficial WalMart greeter and visiting locals in their homes for coffee, all in between filming scenes.
