Dark Angel premiered in 2000 on Fox and pleased both audiences and critics, averaging ten million viewers for the entire first season.
The show takes place in not too distant future after a terrorists set off an electormagnetic pulse that wiped out all computer information in the U.S. This causes the U.S. to instantly become a third world country with most barely scraping by. The main character of the show is Max (Jessica Alba) a genetically engineered and trained killing machine. She was born in a military facility that trained her and many other children to become soldiers, a number of these children, including Max managed to escape. Max tries to live her life in peaceful hiding until she meets Logan Cale (Michael Weatherly) and becomes involved in his fight against injustice.
The show was canceled at the end of its second season, leaving its dedicated fans with a cliffhanger. To fix this problem a number of books were released that tie up all of the loose ends and give Dark Angel fans peace of mind.
Despite its short run the series has still left its mark as Max was listed by TV Guide as being one of the 25 Greatest Sci-Fi Legends.
