This is the 47th post in our Musician of the Day series.

Chuck Ragan began his music career when he formed a band with his friends called Hot Water Music in 1996. The band was based out of Gainsville, Florida and was seen as a punk rock genre sound. The band put together a number of well-received albums for a few different labels when they were getting their start and they never abandoned their idea of grassroots touring. This allowed them to grow a very large underground following.

Chuck not only worked with Hot Water Music but also recorded side albums with other friends, Rumbleseat and Cro(w)s which kept him constantly busy.

In 2005, Hot Water Music went on hiatus for the main reason that Chuck wanted more free time to spend with his family. The group continued to play without Chuck and eventually formed the group the Draft.

Hot Water Music officially ended in 2006, and after that Chuck began his own solo career. He released his first solo album in 2007 on SideOneDummy Records entitled Los Feliz.

On September 1st, 2009, Chuck released his most recent album Gold Country which has a very strong folk and country sound.
