This is the 11th post in our TV Series of the Week series.

Scrubs is a comedy-drama that premiered on NBC in 2001, and is now produced by ABC. The show was a comedic spin-off from the number of popular medical dramas that existed and still exist.

The show takes place at Sacred Heart hospital and focuses on the thoughts, experiences and day dreams of the central character Dr. John "J.D." Dorian. The shows follows J.D. move throughout his career in the hospital with his friends who move through their lives. They are all managed by a couple of sarcastic and cynical doctors who take pride in making everyone else as miserable as possible. Despite this J.D. remains optimistic and with his crazy, slapstick daydreams, the viewers get to have fun as well.

Throughout it's 8 seasons Scrubs has received almost yearly Emmy nominations for all the top categories. Zach Braff as J.D. has been nominated three times for an Emmy but has yet to win the award. Critics hailed the unique visual style of the show and the witty script.

ABC is reported to have picked up the series for another season.
