This is the 5th post in our TV Series of the Week series.
This Food Network series features Alton Brown as its host. Good Eats is show that follows the tradition created by Bill Nye and Mr. Wizard, but with a food twist. Brown explores the science and history of food in order to make the experience of cooking truly come alive. Each episode features a theme, either a cooking style or ingredient.
Brown takes things to another level by acting out the stories that accompany the food. The show has a very educational feel, with trivia being presented about the food and the topics being presented. The entertainment value is not to be missed as Brown certainly knows how to keep an audience’s attention.
Good Eats first aired in 1998 and has seen shown over 200 highly praised episodes. In 2000, the show received the James Beard Foundation’s “Best T.V. Food Journalism Award,” and in 2006 the show won a Peabody award.
