Diablo III

This is the thirty-first post in our Game of the Day series.

Last game from PAX, probably. Actually I'm posting about this particular game only because someone asked about it on a YouTube video I uploaded. I actually have never really played any of the Diablo series, most of my experience with it is from watching my brother. So it comes as no surprise then that I have little to add to your expectations from Diablo III.

For one thing, it looks like what I remember Diablo looking like, only better. More fluid in the motion sense, not pertaining to a liquid. The sound is crisp to match the edgy magically effects, and the landscape is soaked in atmosphere. I particularly liked the fog or sand or whatever that obscures your vision as you're wandering about the monster-infested country-side. Where are these monsters from, hell?

Chris and I watched the entire trailer on Friday without realizing it was Diablo III until the title text came up. The interface of the game plays up this confusion a bit too, maybe biased on their current success in MMO's. That is to say, it is very World of Warcraft in a way that only WoW players who haven't gotten into Diablo could probably identify with. I can immediately see how the basic control scheme works in relation to WoW and the trailer looked like it was using in-game models from WoW. Nope, not Cataclysm, it's Diablo III.

All in all I'm guessing that if you're a fan of the past installments, this will not disappoint. Sorry for the lazy post, but I'm running short on time today.
