This is the 39th post in our Musician of the Day series.

Though you may recognize him better as a icon to the horror film genre, or rather as the ice cream vendor turned hero in Phantasm 1- 4 but he has also been making a splash with a music career as well. He has actually been writing, playing and performing music of numerous genres since the 60s, playing with bands like Stone Country and Greenwood County Singers.

On his own Reggie’s most recent album is Fool’s Paradise, which was released in 2006. Two tracks on the album have received acclaim, with Love That’s Gone being used in a music video protesting the slaughter of Yellowstone Buffalo and Land of Free scoring a video about disappearing park land in Long Beach, CA.

The Reggie Bannister Band was created when Reggie was playing an acoustic set at The Smiling Moose in Pittsburgh. It was there that Reggie met two men that would inspire him to form the Reggie Bannister Band. The first was the bar owner, Mike "Scarfo" Cicon who played drums and Wild Man Bassist Paul "Miser" Werkmeister. Reggie decided that the three should play together to pass the time while they were drinking.

The moment the three began playing it was instant chemistry. It was not long before the trio was performing shows together and Reggie was putting together an album. The album, Naked Truth was released in 2008.
