This is the 21st post in our Musician of the Day series.

Trina Taylor was born in 1978 in the projects of Miami, Florida, with the name of Katrina Laverene Taylor. She got her big break in 1998 when rapper Trick Daddy asked her to recite a verse on his debut album www.thug.com. The song, Nann Nigga, became the first single off the album and garnered both Trick Daddy and Trina great success. Trina was signed to Slip N Slide/ Atlantic Records.

In 2000, Trina released her own debut album entitled Da Baddest Bitch. The first single off the album did not gain much popularity, but her second single Pull Over became one of her biggest hits. Two years later she released another album, Diamond Princess, which had three singles, one of which, No Panties, was her first to be released outside the U.S.

Her third studio album, Glamorest Life reached number 11 in the Billboard charts. In 2008, she released Still da Baddest which reached #1 on the Billboard Rap and R & B charts and number 6 on the Billboard 200.

She is currently set to release her fifth album Amazin' in September of 2009.
