This is the 79th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

Rob McElhenney was born in 1977 in Philadelphia.

In the early 90's, Rob decided that it was time to leave Philadelphia and move to L.A. to start his acting career. It was in 1997 that Rob made his debut into acting with a small part in The Devil's Own. This was eventually followed up by other small parts in The Wonder Boys, A Civil Action and Thirteen Conversations About one Thing.

He spent 8 years trying to make a living as an actor but with only supporting roles in a few episodes of Law and Order and one in ER, his dreams of becoming an actor left him waiting tables. Not one to be kept down, in 2004 he wrote the script for the pilot episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He showed it to his friends Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton and the three men produced and starred in a pilot episode filmed with Rob's digital camera with a budget of $200.

Eventually the low-budget pilot made its way to FX executives who paid the three men to create seven more episodes, to be aired in the summer of 2005.

In his personal life, Rob recently marred his It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia costar Kaitlin Olsen on September 27th, 2008.
