This is the 35th post in our Musician of the Day series.

Vintersorg is a Swedish rock band that was formed in 1994 under the name Vargatron but was later changed to Vintersorg. Andreas Hedlund is the front man and composer for the band, and Mattias Marklund is the only permanent member of the band.

Vintersorg released their first album in 1998 entitled Till Fjalls. This album, Hedniskhjärtad, and Ödemarkens Son all had a folk/Viking metal sound which was well received by their followers. Their following three albums, Cosmic Genesis, Visions from The Spiral Generator and The Focusing Blur, followed more of a retro progressive rock sound .

Currently the band consists of: Nils Johansson on keyboard and programming, Johan Lindgren on bass, Mattias Marklund on guitar and Andreas Hedlund on vocals, bass, guitar and keyboard( proving that he is nearly a one man band).

Their latest album Solens Rotter was released in 2007. Unlike some of their previous albums Solens Rotter is sung entirely in Swedish and is a return to their folk metal style roots.
