This is the 100th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

Yunjin Kim was born in 1973 in South Korea. She was ten years old when her family decided to emigrate to the United States. They moved to Staten, New York. It was here that Yunjim started to get into acting by joining the middle school drama program.

She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan and studied at the London Academy of Performing Arts. She then majored in Drama at Boston University.

Once she earned her degree, Yunjin began to focus all of her time on her acting career. She started slow getting some parts on MTV, some soap opera roles and performing on an off-Broadway stage. It was in 1996 that she got a break when a South Korean TV show that was filming in Manhattan at the time, asked her to return to South Korea. It was there that she was offered a role in A Gorgeous Vacation.

In 1998 she was in two other Korean television shows, but it was in 1999 that she truly skyrocketed her career. She was given a starring role in Shiri(Swiri) as Myung-hyun Lee / Bang-hee Lee. Shiri(Swiri) became South Korea's first major blockbuster and the highest grossing film in South Korea's history.

After that she was offered a number of roles in movies and continued with Korean cinema even after she was offered her big American break. In 2004 she was cast as Sun-Hwa Kwon on Lost.
