This is the 59th post in our Musician of the Day series.

Ryan Shupe & and the Rubberband was formed in the mid-1990s in Ogden, Utah. The band's lineup consists of Ryan Shupe (fiddle, guitar, ukulele, lead vocals), Roger Archibald (guitar, vocals), Ryan Tilby (bass guitar, vocals), Craig Miner (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, vocals), and Bart Olson (drums).

Ryan Shupe originally formed the band as an outlet for the songs he was writing but the band took on a new life once they began to play the songs. It has now become bigger than Ryan could have ever imagined. Originally the band was a loose group of musicians were members could come and go as they pleased but which Ryan would always have musicians in the pool to fill that slot. Gradually though members began to stick around until the final group of five was created.

The band began to gain recognition throughout Utah and eventually took the interest of a few labels. In 2005, they released Dream Big on the Capitol Records label. After the release of their successful album and single, they left Capitol Records.

They signed Montage Music Group and released Last Man Standing in 2008.
