This is the 20th post in our TV Series of the Week series.
F Troop aired on ABC from 1965-1967. It starred Forrest Tucker, Larry Storch, Ken Berry and Melody Patterson. The show was a satirical sitcom that took place at Fort Courage. Fort Courage was a fictional U.S. army outpost just after the Civil War.
The show focused on the Fort's commanding officer Captain Wilton Parmenter. Wilton came from a long line of army men and when he accidentally caused a battle to be won as a private, he was rewarded by the army by being promoted to Captain and sent to Fort Courage. Fort Courage was considered by the army to be a place to dump the least useful soldiers. As can be imagined most of Captain Wilton's time was spent dealing with the schemes of the non commissioned officers at Fort and the nearby Indians.
The show only lasted two seasons even though it still had healthy ratings and did very well in syndication. The show still remains popular today. So popular in fact that a movie is currently being developed by Bobby Logan.
