Anna Tatangelo was born in 1987 in Sora, Italy. She was only 15 when she won the Sanremo Music Festival's Youth Award. Working off the success from the festival she recorded a duet with her boyfriend Gigi D'Alessio, Un nuovo bacio(2003) and also Il mondo รจ mio(2004).
Her first album attimo x attimo was released in September of 2003. The album continued to grow Anna's popularity and led her to release a second album in 2005. This album included many songs that were written by her boyfriend and was entitled Ragazza di periferia.
Continuing with the pattern of releasing an album every two years, in 2007 Anna released Mai dire mai. The album was certified platinum after a matter of weeks but it failed to have the number of groundbreaking hits that were found on her second album.
In 2008, she released yet another album Nel Mondo della donne but this album failed to generate the buzz or the sales of her previous album. It was certified gold in Italy with 50,000 copies.
