This is the 85th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.
Mike Epps was born in 1970 in Indiana. Even from a young age Mike had the ability to make people laugh and he was only a teenager when he started doing stand up.
He eventually moved to Atlanta to perform at the Comedy Act Theater. In 1995, he moved again, this time to New York in order to star in Def Comedy Jam.
Two years later he broke into film with a starring role in Strays as Mike. Two years later he got another acting role as Jerome in an episode of The Sopranos.
2000 was a big year for Mike Epps as he had appearances in the movies 3 Strikes and Bait, as well as a starring role in Next Friday. Next Friday was not as well received as it's 1995 predecessor Friday, but it was a still a success at the box office.
In 2001, he was the voice of Sonny in Dr. Doolittle 2 as well a pimp Baby Powder in How High. With each role his appeal to audiences grew and in 2002 he had two more films under his belt, All About the Benjamins and Friday after Next.
Throughout his career Mike Epps has continued to take on roles in a diverse range of films including Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, The Honeymooners, Guess Who and Roll Bounce.
Most recently he had a role in the blockbuster hit The Hangover as Black Doug.
It has also been announced that Mike Epps will be hosting the 2009 Hip Hop BET Awards on October 27th. Here's hoping it will actually be Mike Epps and not T-Pain.
