This is the 98th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

Michael Welch was born in 1987 in L.A. and began acting when he was just ten years old. His first major role came in 1998 when he played Artim in the film Star Trek: Insurrection for which he won a Young Artist's Award.

He spent most of his early years in single episodes of a number of different television shows including Frasier, 7th Heaven, Walker, Texas Ranger, Malcolm in the Middle, Touched by an Angel, and The X-Files. He seemed to pop in at most of the major television shows at the time which made producers start to take notice of him.

He even did some voice acting over the years giving his voice to Peter Pan in Villain's Revenge and to Pinocchio in Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse. He would continue playing Pinocchio for two years in the House of Mouse series.

In 2003 he got his first big break with a starring role in the TV series Joan of Arcadia as Luke Girardi. The show was canceled in 2005 which left Michael back at one shot roles in television shows.

That all changed in 2008 when he was in a number of Indie films and one box office blockbuster - Twilight. He plays Mike Newton and he will reprise the role for the rest of the Twilight series.
