This is the 101st post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

Rodney Carrington was born in 1968 in Texas. After high school, Rodney went to Kilgore College in order to study theater. At this time he worked as a standup comedian in the local clubs and bars, and he even got exposure through local radio stations like the Bob and Tom Show.

His comedy acts are unique in that he will often combine his comedy acts with original songs.

Despite his growing popularity it was not until 1998 that he released his first album, Hangin' With Rodney. For a comic album it was successful reaching up to #73 on the Country Charts. For his next album he switched labels and in 2000, released Morning Wood. This album was more successful than the first reaching Top 20 status. His single off this album, More of a Man, also charted.

He continued releasing albums and he began to gain even more popularity as in 2004, he made his acting debut in Rodney an ABC sitcom which lasted for two seasons. In 2008 he took on another acting role this time he starred alongside Toby Keith in Beer for my Horses.

His most recent album is El Nino Loco which was released in 2009. It is his first all music album and it even contains some songs co-written by Toby Keith as well.
