This is the 105th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

Paul Dano was born in 1984 in New York. He loved acting and even as a child he was involved in community theater. He performed so well that his parents were told to take him back to New York (after moving to Connecticut.) and he quickly was scouted to perform in a number of Broadway plays. He was only 12 when he made his Broadway debut in Inherit the Wind.

He was 15 when he got his first major film role and that was in the movie L.I.E. in which a young boy falls for an older man. From then on he was in a number of Indie classics, not the least of which were Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood. In fact it was his role with Daniel Day Lewis in The Ballad of Jack and Rose that caused Lewis to recommend Paul Dano to the director of There Will be Blood.

Paul Dano is not the most mainstream actor but he certainly gains plenty of attention anyway. But even though he continues to take roles in movies, he still performs on Broadway and even plays guitar and sings for the band Mook.

In 2009 he released four movies, Gigantic, Where the Wild Things Are, Taking Woodstock and The Good Heart. But there is no solid leads on where 2010 will take him.
