This is the 12th post in our Musician of the Day series.

The New York based Indie Rock band was formed in 2003 when the four members found each other while attending college in Boston. The band consists of: Danny Molad on drums, Jessica Martins on vocals and guitar, Tom Deis on guitar and David Lizmi on bass.

The band gained some popularity from their self titled EP but when Death Cab for Cutie member Chris Walla stumbled upon their profile he fell in love with the band. When it was released that Via Audio was Chris Walla’s favorite band, their popularity slowly began to grow. Their big break came when Jessica ran in to Jim Eno and handed him and demo of their music. Jim loved the music so much he offered to produce their first album and would only accept payment when they were signed.

With their album Say Something in hand they began speaking to record labels. Unsure of whether they would be signed they leaked demos of the album online, to massive success. After that it wasn’t long before the group signed with SideCho records. Say Something was released in September of 2007.

Currently the band is spending the summer working on their second album.
