This is the first post in our Artist of the Week series.

Michael Godard is currently the #1 selling artist in the U.S. and this bad boy of the art world is turning tradition on its head. His paintings never feature beautiful portraits or impressive landscapes, instead this artist paints olives having a darn good time. With the popularity of his work olives aren't the only thing coming to life, as strawberries, grapes and just about anything that can be connected to drinking and gambling is coming along for the ride.

Michael Godard is not only popular with the art crowd but celebrities of all kinds have become avid collectors of his work. What makes his art so desirable is that it has become fun, witty and accessible to everyone. You no longer have to be a great critic to "understand" what the artist was trying to say through his work. All you have to do is sit back, smile and rock on. With Godard, art not only has style it has attitude as well.

Godard has had the painting bug in his veins ever since he was a child. To that end he attended the University of Nevada in Las Vegas for Fine Arts and he later went on to attend The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Luckily for such an in-demand artist, Godard is one of the most prolific as well. So even though you may have to pay a pretty penny to get an original Godard, you won't have any trouble finding one.
