This is the first post in our Musician of the Day category.

Born in 1986, in Japan to musician parents, Crystal Kay always knew what she wanted to do and even at a young age her voice attracted attention. At the age of six she got a job doing a voiceover for a television commercial and by the age of 13 she had already released her debut album.

By 2003 she had collaborated with M-Flo and had a #2 album which meant that the young star was now known to the world. Her first top ten hit was Motherland and the song was so popular it was used as the ending theme for the successful anime Fullmetal Alchemist in 2004.

The best selling single of her career so far was released soon after in 2005 and was entitled Koi ni Ochitara (When I Fall in Love). The single rose to #2 in the weekly charts but was 30th best selling single of 2005. In 2006 she released another album entitled Call me Miss, which peaked at #2 in the weekly charts.

Crystal began 2007 with a new single and it was used as the theme to the movie Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru (I Love My Younger Sister). Immediately after she released another single that was used as the ending theme to the anime Nodame Cantabile. Later that year she released her 8th album entitled All Yours, which was her first album to hit #1 on the weekly charts, finally proving that the rising star was anything but second rate.

Her songs continue to be featured in a number of different television shows and movies, and she just recently released her 10th album: The Best of Crystal Kay.
