This is the third post in our Musician of the Day series.
This sexy eclectic rocker was born in Surrey, with the real name of Dann Pursey, and has been working in music his entire life. When he was 14, he created a band that he named Vanton with which to experiment with many of his different music ideas and lyrics. The band has gone through a variety of changes throughout its life, with Dann himself remaining as the only real constant. Despite that, he has never changed the name.
Outside of his own music endeavors he has been working as engineer for music producer Steve Mac, in order to create hits for many of Simon Cowell’s artists.
His latest project is working with Globus, and it is for this that he is most well known. Globus is the world’s largest rock band with 180 members. They are most well known for working with movies including The Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, and Spider Man. It was actually from a movie that Dann got the idea to work with the band.
He says that he was watching the trailer for Aviator and was blown away by the music. So he called up the producers and asked if he could write for one or two of their tracks. They not only agreed, but after seeing what he could do, offered him a permanent position in the band. Globus released their first album, EPICON, in 2007 and 5 of the tracks feature the vocals of Dann, including Prelude and Orchard of Mines.
