Geoff was born in New York in 1943. In the 60s and 70s he began to make a reputation for himself in the Boston, Massachusetts blues scene. He was a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band which released six albums during the 60s. In the mid-70s he began releasing his own solo albums, beginning with Is Having a Wonderful Time, which was well received.
He continued recording and touring until the mid-80s when he decided to take time off from work. Though he considered himself on break, he continued to work on music by composing for film and television which earned him an Emmy.
He returned to music recording in 1999 with the album The Secret Handshake which was welcomed by fans and critics alike. Geoff continued releasing a number of albums and touring the world. His most recent album, Texas Sheiks is set to release in September of 2009.
