John Pinette

John Pinette

This is the 112th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.

John Pinette was born in 1964 in Massachusetts. He started off as an accountant but once his friends began to tell him how funny he was, he gave that up in order to pursue comedy.

Soon after he started doing standup, he started touring clubs all over the country. His big break as a standup comic was when he went on tour with Frank Sinatra. Since that time he has been featured many times on The Tonight Show and the View.

He also has an acting and singing career. In 1990 he got his first television role, as Howie Anderson in Alf. Three years later he got his film debut as Sam Durance in Reckless Kelly. From 1992-1993 he was a series regular on the show Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

Since then he has continued getting small roles in movies and television but his main focus has been his comedy. In 1999 he was named Stand-Up Comedian of the Year at the American Comedy Awards.

In 2005 he joined the cast of Hairspray in the role of Edna. In 2006 he left the stage of Broadway and returned to his comedy.
