This is the 82nd post in our Musician of the Day series.
Nox Arcana was formed in 2003 by Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski. Nox Arcana is known for creating Gothic style medieval music that truly creates a story and a mood unlike any other. Their music is featured throughout Knott's Scary Farm, Busch Gardens and Universal Studies during their Halloween effects to create a scary feel and to fit the mood of their themed houses.
There were signed to Monolith in 2003 and released their first record that year entitled Darklore Manor. They have since released at least one album a year since. In 2005 they made it to number 8 on the billboard Holiday charts with their album The Winter's Night.
Nox Arcana has a very dark sound that rarely features vocals unless it adds to the ambiance or the story of the song. There may be the sound of a witch chanting in the distance, or a carnival barker or even dark Gregorian chants. Their music truly does take the listener to a very dark and wondrous place.
In 2009, their music was used exclusively by the television show American Haunts for the Travel Channel's Halloween weekend.
