Morningwood

Morningwood

This is the 100th post in our Musician of the Day series.

Morningwood is an alternative rock back that was founded in New York in 2001. Currently the band consists of Chantal Claret (vocals)
and Pedro Yanowitz (Bass, Vocalist). The band now also includes Will Tendy and Jonathan Schmidt.

In 2005 the group recieved wide exposure when they were finalists in Yahoo.Com's Who's Next.
They were eventually signed to Capitol Records and released their debut album Morningwood in 2006.The album produced three major singles: "Nth Degree", "Jetsetter" and "New York Girls."

The band then appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman three times, The Tonight Show and Last Call with Carson Daly.

Lead singer Chantal Claret is known for having a very commanding stage presence one that even commands audience members to take off their clothes. It is not uncommon for an audience member to come on stage and strip (particularly while the band is playing the song "Take your clothes off")

The band has just recently released their second album Diamonds and Studs on October 27th, 2009.

Their song New York Girls was used in the Sex and the City Movie.
