This is the 106th post in our Musician of the Day series.
Band of Horses was originally called Horses and was formed in 2004 by Ben Bridwell and Mat Brooke in Seattle. The pair formed the band after the breakup of their previous band Carissa's Wierd. It was not long before they caught the attention of Sub Pop. The label helped the band to release their first EP in 2005. This was soon followed by their debut album Everything All The Time in 2006.
It was around this time that Mat Brooke left the band in order to create a new band. The line-up of the band has changed a number of times but the current line up is as follows: Ben Bridwell, Creighton Barrett, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey, Bill Reynolds and Blake Mills.
In 2007 they released their second album Cease to Begin which reached #35 on the Billboard top 100 and was voted one of the ten best albums of 2007 by Paste Magazine.
Their music has been featured in a number of television shows including The Cleaner, CSI, Criminal Minds, One Tree Hill, Numb3rs and Kyle XY.
It has been announced that the band is currently working on their third album entitled Night Rainbows, but the release date has not yet been announced.
