This is the 104th post in our Musician of the Day series.

John Joseph was born in 1962 in New York City. He spent his childhood in foster care and spent most of his time on the streets of New York.

In 1984 he became the lead singer for the Cro-Mags, He was the singer on their demo and their first album. He continued with the group for their third and fourth albums as well. He left the band in 1989.

Throughout this time he also spent time as a roadie for a number of Bad Brains tours.

He eventually returned to the Cro-Mags in the 1990s but disputes with other bandmates made collaboration impossible.

After that he created his own band Bloodclot! and due to that he is often known as Bloodclot. But he has also sung with Mode of Ignorance, Both Worlds, and Fearless Vampire Killers.

In 2007 he published a book about his life entitled The Evolution of a Cro-Magnon.
