This is the 118th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.
Ludvine Sagnier was born in 1979 in France. She started taking acting lessons at a very young age and made her film debut at the age of ten in I want to go Home and Les maris, les femmes, les amants.
She then did not act in another movie until 2000 when she had roles in Water Drops on Burning Rocks and Bon Plan.
In 2002 she won a Cesar Award for Most Promising Actress for her role in 8 women.
That same year she had a role in her first English language role in the movie Toothache. The image of Ludvine sunbathing was used in the promos and the movie became the highest grossing foreign movie in the U.S. in 2003.
She has since turned down numerous offers to act in American cinema as she remains dedicated to her home country and french cinema.
Ludvine has appeared topless in nearly half her roles and completely nude in the extended scenes of some movies. She is quoted as saying this in response to questions about performing nude on camera: "I'm much more confident in front of a camera, hidden by a character, enhanced by makeup, so I can go much further than I can in real life. Being naked is quite a natural thing, but it's more the sexual situations. Sexual acting is painful, because even though you're pretending, you have the skin of the person in front of you, and it's not the skin you wish you had. After that you run into the shower to get rid of everything. I felt really dirty after I filmed all of this. It is difficult, but even if you're self-conscious in real life, when you're hidden behind a character you can bare much more."
Currently she is working on two films which will be released in 2010 Potiche and Une femme parfaite.
