This is the 95th post in our Musician of the Day series.
Kerli Koiv was born in Estonia in 1987. When she was a teenager she studied singing, dancing, acting and piano.
In 2002 she entered Fizz Superstar which was a televised singing competition that included talent from three Baltic countries. Kerli won the competition but her album failed to gain much success or recognition. It became so bad that Estonian media began referring to failure as "Kerli Syndrome."
But Kerli continued to write and perform music which scored her a record deal with Def Jam Records in 2006. In 2007 she released a self-titled digital release EP and the following year she released her debut album entitled Love is Dead.
"Creepshow" and "Walking on Air" were both used by FOX to promote their show Fringe. Kerli was also called upon to perform the theme of the video game Quantum of Solace.
It has already been announced that she will be releasing a new album in early 2010 which will be followed by a world tour.
