This is the 118th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.
Carre Otis was born in 1968 in California. She grew up in an alcoholic household and began drinking herself at the age of ten. She began modeling at age 16 and by the time she turned 18 she was a cocaine and heroin addict. She appeared on a number of magazine covers wearing anything from sheer tops to bikinis to nothing.
From 1988 -1992 following her appearance on the cover of American Vogue she was considered to be a top model. She has since appeared in ads for Calvin Klein jeans and Guess jeans.
In 1989, she took the role Emily Reed in Wild Orchid which caused her to become somewhat of a celebrity after rumors that she and co-star Mickey Rourke filmed an unsimulated sex scene. Three years later she married him. They had a hard relationship and though Mickey managed to get her off heroin, he was arrested for spousal abuse in 1994. Carre continued mixing drugs, pills and alcohol which eventually led the pair to divorce in 2001.
Mickey never stopped loving her and waited a number of years hoping that they would reunite. It was never to happen as Carre remarried in 2006 and gave birth to a daughter that same year.
Carre's acting and modeling career fell by the wayside as she struggled with anorexia and other health issues.
