Malin Hartleius was born in 1967 in Sweden. Malin studied at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna.

In 1989 she became a member of the Vienna State Opera Studio. She performed in Mozart’s Lucio Silla and Papagena. The following season in 1991 she joined the Zurich Opera.

From then on she continued performing in operas and at different festivals. It was at one such festival that she began working with conductor Franz Welser-Möst.

In 1999 she received an invitation from the Opera National de Paris it was there that she performed the main role in Rameau's Les Indes Galantes.

Since then she has taken roles as a solo soprano and roles in operas around the world including the Munich State Opera. In 2004 she made her debut as Zerlina in Don Giovanni at Glyndebourne.

She continues to perform on the stage around the world to this day.
