This is the 88th post in our Musician of the Day series.
Jarvis Crocker was born in 1963 in England. When he was 15 Jarvis founded Arabacus Pulp. The band went through a number of different line up changes and was eventually shortened to Pulp. But by the 1990s they had found success with the release of His n' Hers ('94) and Different Class ('95).
In 1996, Jarvis made headlines when he invaded the stage during the Brit Awards. Michael Jackson was performing onstage surrounded by children, dressed like a rabbi and make Christ-like poses. Jarvis and a former band mate invaded the stage in protest and were promptly arrested. The result was skyrocketing record sales and a stature of Jarvis being made and placed in Rock Circus, London.
The band released two more albums which were critically acclaimed but not as successful as the previous two. The band then went on hiatus after releasing a greatest hits album. Around this time he also hosted a Channel 4 series called From the Outside.
Currently Jarvis is now following a solo career with Jarvis having been released in 2006. The album was a relative success and reached to #37 on the UK charts.
He followed this up with Further Complications in May of 2009. This reached up to #19 on the UK charts and #155 on the U.S. charts.
