Buckethead




This is the 119th post in our Musician of the Day series.



Buckethead was born as Brian Patrick Carrol in 1969 in California. He began playing guitar at the age of 12. After Buckethead released two demo tapes Giant Robot and Buckethead Blueprints he was signed to the Japanese Avant record in 1992.

He released Bucketheadland that same year and he also became part of the group Praxis.

In 1994 he released another album called Dreamatorium under the name of Death Cube K which is an anagram of Buckethead. That same year he released Giant Robot under his Buckethead persona.

In 1996 he released another album entitled The Day of the Robot. The following year he began working a very personal album entitled Buckethead plays Disney, the album has yet to be released.

In 1997 he released Disembodied under his Death Cube K name.

He continued to release a wide number of albums under a number of personas and bands. Today he is a member of 7 bands and was previously a member of 9 others. He has released 28 solo albums and has performed on other 50.

He is characterized by performing with a large white bucket on his head an a white mask. In previous years he performed with a KFC bucket with a large orange bumper sticker with the word "FUNERAL" on it.

His most recent album was entitled Needle in a Slunk Stack.
