Tom Kenny was born in 1962 in New York.
In 1980 he was part of a local Syracuse band called the Tearjerkers. The band did not become a national act but provided plenty of fun and experience for Kenny.
In 1990 he made regular appearances on Friday Night Videos.
In 1993 he began the career for which he would become most well-known. He got the role of Heffer Wolfe on Rocko's Modern Life. His voice was so versatile that he played a number of other voices on the show. One such voice, which was used for only one character in one scene of one episode became the voice of the character for which he is most known - Spongebob Squarepants.
In 1996 he played a number of different voices on Dexter's Laboratory including Val Hallen.
In 1997 he played voices in Cow & Chicken and I am Weasel. In 1998 he had roles in Catdog and The Powerpuff Girls.
1999 brought his biggest role ever when he was chosen to play Spongebob Squarepants by Stephen Hillengberg who remembered the character Tom Kenny played in one episode of Rocko's Modern Life.
Since his role with Spongebob and other characters on the show Tom Kenny has performed in a number of animated shows, while continuing to give life to everyone's favorite sponge.
In 2009 he was the voices of Skids and Wheelie in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
In 2009 he was also chosen as a regular cast voice on the new FOX series Sit Down, Shut Up as Muhammad Sabeeh "Happy" Fa-ach Nuabar.
