This is the 138th post in our Celebrity of the Day series.
Sophie Anderton was born in 1977 in England.
She became a model at the age of 16 but did not hit true supermodel status until 1996 when she appeared in Gossard Glossies as "Girl on the Grass" which was a national advertising campaign. The add featured the tagline "Who said a girl couldn't get pleasure from something soft?" the add brought upon numerous complaints to the ASA but none of them were upheld.
It wasn't long after that she began earning 30,000 pounds a week, a sum which led to to be able to afford a lavish lifestyle. She was also reported to have become addicted to cocaine. Sophie would later equate this to the fact that she had been used painkillers as a child after a car accident and had become used to "numbing the pain."
In 2004 she began appearing in numerous reality shows including I'm a Celebrity....Get me outta here! 2004 was also the year in which she admitted to having sex for 5,000 pounds, an encounter which was arranged by a brothel madam in Florence, Italy. Strangely enough it was soon after confession that her then boyfriend Mark Alexiou decided to leave her.
She continued to appear on reality shows and in 2007 she lost a 100,000 pound contract when tabloid news reporter Mazer Mahmood did an entraptment operation where Sophie not only took and offered cocaine but offered to have sex with him for 10,000 pounds.
In 2009 she was caught on tape doing cocaine.
